How do BOSS and Paycom integrations work?

Setup and key concepts for BOSS (sync-in) and Paycom (payroll export).

Purpose

BOSS and Paycom serve very different roles. BOSS syncs job data INTO Protiv. Paycom is a payroll system Protiv exports bonuses TO. This article covers both.

BOSS — Sync-In Integration

BOSS is a job management system. Setup is simple compared to Aspire or Jobber.

Setup:

  1. Click Connect on BOSS in Settings → Integrations
  2. Provide your BOSS credentials
  3. Set up budgets in Protiv (BOSS doesn't supply them; you create them in Protiv)
  4. First sync runs

What syncs: Jobs, employee data.

What's different: Unlike Aspire which has built-in budget data, BOSS customers typically build budgets directly in Protiv during signup.

Paycom — Payroll Export Integration

Paycom is your destination, not your source. Protiv exports bonus data TO Paycom in their format.

Setup:

  1. Configure Paycom integration (contact support)
  2. Once active, the Paycom Bonuses report appears in your Reports

What flows: Bonus statements out of Protiv → Paycom-formatted CSV → upload to Paycom.

Note: Even though the Integrations catalog may show Paycom as inactive, customers with Paycom integration have full access to the Paycom Bonuses report.

When to Combine Them

A common setup: BOSS for job data IN + Paycom for payroll OUT. Protiv sits in the middle, calculating bonuses from BOSS data and exporting them in Paycom's format.

Common Mistakes & How To Fix Them

  • "I can't find Paycom in the integrations grid" Paycom is gated. If your org has Paycom, you'll see the report. If not, contact support.

  • "BOSS sync is failing" Most often a credentials issue. Reset and reconnect.
