How do I set up branches, divisions, and routes?
Understand how Protiv organizes your company structure and how to configure each level.
Purpose
Protiv has three levels of company structure: branches, divisions, and routes. This article explains what each one is, how they connect, and what you can configure where.
When To Use This
Use this when:
- You're setting up Protiv for a multi-location company
- You need to scope a bonus pool, Pro-Goal, or report to part of your org
- You're trying to understand why a job is showing up under the wrong group
The Hierarchy
Branch (city or location)
└─ Division (department within a branch)
└─ Route (geographic / scheduled path)
└─ Jobs / Milestones
A branch contains divisions. A division contains routes. A route contains jobs and milestones.
Where Each One Comes From
Branches and routes sync from your integration. Divisions are the exception — you can create them in Protiv directly.
Setting Up Each Level
Branches
Branches sync from your integration. To set up a new branch:
- Add it in your integration (Aspire, Jobber, etc.)
- Wait for the next sync
- The branch appears in Protiv
You can configure per-branch settings:
- Per-branch bonus pools
- Per-branch wage configurations
- Per-branch labor budget % (for contract-price ProPays)
Divisions
Divisions can be created directly in Protiv. Go to Settings → look for the divisions section under People or Org Structure.
To create a division:
- Click + Add Division
- Name it (e.g. "Maintenance," "Installation," "Service")
- Assign it to a branch
- Save
Divisions are useful when:
- Different teams in the same branch need different bonus rules
- You want per-division reporting
- Some divisions are bonus-eligible and others aren't
Routes
Routes sync from your integration. They represent geographic paths, scheduled lists of stops, or organizational groupings.
You configure routes through:
- Settings → ProPays → Routes — Set up route-level ProPay rules
- Settings → Routes — Schedule and incentive eligibility
Manager Mapping
Protiv lets you assign a default manager per branch + division combination. This is set in Settings → Aspire Managers (or equivalent for other integrations).
When a job syncs in, Protiv looks up which manager owns that branch + division and auto-assigns them to the ProPay.
Worker Assignment
A worker can be associated with:
- One or more branches
- One or more divisions
- One or more routes
These determine which jobs they show up on. If a worker is assigned to Route 5 and you create a ProPay for a job on Route 5, the worker can clock in on it.
Common Mistakes & How To Fix Them
"My new branch isn't showing up" Verify it synced. Check the integration settings. New branches show up after the next sync cycle.
"I created a division and it's not showing on the dashboard filter" Refresh and recheck. If it still doesn't appear, the division may need to be assigned to a branch.
"Routes are confusing — workers are assigned to the wrong ones" Route assignments come from your integration. Fix them in your source system.
"Manager is missing from a ProPay" Check the manager mapping for that branch + division. If no manager is mapped, assign one.
