How do I bulk-import workers from a spreadsheet?

Add many workers at once via CSV or your integration.

Purpose

When you've got dozens of workers to add, doing it one at a time is slow. This article covers the bulk import options.

When To Use This

Use this when:

  • Onboarding a new branch with many workers
  • Migrating from another system
  • Initial Protiv setup

The Two Ways to Bulk Add Workers

Workers don't get created in Protiv directly. They sync from your integration. So the two paths are:

Option 1: Bulk Add in Your Integration

Most integrations support bulk import:

  • Aspire — CSV import in Aspire's admin
  • Jobber — Bulk add via Jobber's contact import
  • QuickBooks Time — Bulk user creation
  • BOSS — Talk to BOSS support
  • LMN — Manual addition (slow)

After bulk-adding in your integration, wait for the next sync cycle. Workers appear in Protiv automatically.

Option 2: CSV Import

Some setups support CSV import directly to Protiv. Talk to support to confirm whether your integration supports this.

After the Import

Once workers are in Protiv:

  1. Verify they all synced over
  2. Check wages — if wages didn't sync, set them manually
  3. Bulk invite to mobile app (use the bulk invite flow)

Common Mistakes & How To Fix Them

  • "I added 50 workers but only 30 are in Protiv" Some integrations skip workers without certain required fields. Check your integration's worker list against what's in Protiv. Workers without wages or assignments often don't sync.

  • "Workers synced but with no wages" Use bulk wage entry, or set wages individually. Or fix in your integration and resync.

  • "Mobile invites bounced for half my workers" Email or phone numbers may be wrong. Check the failed-invites alert on the dashboard.
