How do I disconnect or reconnect an integration?
Turn an integration off, on, or refresh credentials.
Purpose
Sometimes you need to disconnect an integration — to switch systems, refresh credentials, or because something's broken. This article covers how.
When To Use This
Use this when:
- Credentials expired and sync is failing
- You're switching from one integration to another
- You're troubleshooting a sync issue
- You're closing the account and offboarding
Disconnect
- Go to Settings → Integrations
- Find the integration card
- Click into it
- Click Disconnect
- Confirm
What Happens When You Disconnect
- Sync stops immediately
- Existing data stays in Protiv (jobs, ProPays, statements all remain)
- New data won't flow until you reconnect or connect a different integration
Reconnect
Same flow, but click Connect on the integration card. Re-enter credentials.
Switching Integrations
If you're moving from one system to another (e.g. switching from BOSS to Aspire):
- Disconnect the old integration
- Wait — your old data stays in Protiv but won't update
- Connect the new integration
- Map records as needed (talk to support for migration help)
Caution
- Disconnecting doesn't delete data, but you'll lose ability to update synced records
- If you reconnect with a different account, data may not match up — talk to support before doing this
- Don't disconnect mid-pay-period unless you know the impact
Common Mistakes & How To Fix Them
"I disconnected by accident" Reconnect. As long as credentials still work, data picks back up.
"I disconnected and now can't reconnect" Check that the integration's account or API key is still valid. May need to regenerate from the source system.
