How do I export reports for payroll?
Get bonus data out of Protiv and into your payroll system.
Purpose
Once bonuses are calculated and statements are ready, you need to get that data to payroll. Protiv has 4 report exports for this. This article walks through each one.
When To Use This
Use this when:
- It's payroll day and you need to push bonus data
- You're setting up your monthly export workflow
- You want to know the difference between the available reports
The 4 Export-Ready Reports
Bonuses for Payroll
The standard export. Use this if you're not on Paycom.
To export:
- Go to Reports → Bonuses for Payroll
- Select the pay period
- Filter by branch / division if needed
- Click Export CSV
The CSV contains:
- Worker name + ID
- Pay period
- Bonus amount
- Statement reference
- Branch / division
Open in Excel or import directly to your payroll system.
Paycom Bonuses
If your org uses Paycom, this report formats the data exactly how Paycom expects.
To export:
- Go to Reports → Paycom Bonuses
- Select the pay period
- Click Export CSV
This report is restricted to orgs with the Paycom integration. If you don't see it, your org isn't connected to Paycom.
Warranty Reserves
Shows what bonus money is currently held in warranty reserve.
To view:
- Go to Reports → Warranty Reserves
- Filter by branch / division / property as needed
This isn't a payroll export per se — it's a balance report. It tells you "$X is held back across these jobs and will release as warranty periods close."
Employee Bonus Report
Per-employee deep dive. Useful for one-off worker questions.
To view:
- Go to Reports → Employee Bonus
- Search for the worker
- View their detailed bonus history
Use this when a worker disputes their bonus or wants to see the full breakdown.
Recommended Cadence
For most customers:
- Each pay period — Run Bonuses for Payroll export
- Monthly — Check Warranty Reserves to track held-back money
- As needed — Run Employee Bonus report for individual questions
Common Mistakes & How To Fix Them
"My export is missing some workers" Workers without bonuses for that period don't appear. Verify they had eligible bonus line items.
"The numbers don't match what I see in Protiv" Check whether you're comparing bonus pool total vs. statement total. Statements may include retention holds and waiting period buckets that change the totals.
"Paycom report says I don't have access" Your org must have the Paycom integration active. Check Settings → Integrations.
"CSV won't open right in Excel" Use Data → From Text in Excel to import. Or open in Google Sheets and download as XLSX.
