How to Connect Aspire to Protiv 2.0

Step-by-step instructions for connecting your Aspire account to Protiv so the two systems can work together.

Start by watching the video above. It walks through the full setup. If you prefer written steps, follow the guide below while you connect Aspire to Protiv.

This setup only needs to be done once.


Before You Start

Make sure you have:

  • Admin access in Protiv

  • Admin access in Aspire

  • Two browser tabs open

Using Google Chrome works best for this setup.

If you don’t see the API option in Aspire later in the steps, your account may not have it turned on.

You’ll need to contact Aspire support and ask them to enable API access.


Step 1: Open the API Section in Aspire

First, log in to Aspire.

  1. Click your profile picture in the lower-left corner.

  2. Click Administration.

  3. At the top of the page, click Application.

  4. Then click API.

You should now be on the API setup page.


Step 2: Create a New API Connection

  1. Click New on the right side of the page.

  2. In the Description box, type:

    • Protiv

  3. Under Scope, click Select All.

Make sure Select All is chosen.

If this is not selected, the connection between Aspire and Protiv will not work correctly.

After creating the connection, Aspire will generate two things:

  • Client ID

  • Client Secret

You’ll copy both of these into Protiv in the next steps.


Step 3: Copy the Client ID Into Protiv

  1. In Aspire, find the Client ID.

  2. Copy it.

    • Mac: Command + C

    • Windows: Control + C

  3. Switch to your Protiv tab.

  4. Click Connect under the Aspire integration.

  5. Paste the Client ID into the Client ID box.


Step 4: Copy the Client Secret Into Protiv

  1. Go back to the Aspire tab.

  2. Copy the Client Secret.

  3. Return to Protiv.

  4. Paste it into the Client Secret box.

If you want to double-check what you pasted, click the eye icon in Protiv to show the text.


Step 5: Save the API in Aspire

Before finishing the connection:

  1. Go back to Aspire.

  2. Click Save in the top-right corner.

After saving, the Client Secret will disappear in Aspire. This is normal.

Important
Make sure the Client Secret is already pasted into Protiv before saving.
If not, you’ll need to create a new Client Secret.


Step 6: Finish the Connection in Protiv

  1. Return to Protiv.

  2. Click Authenticate.

If everything was entered correctly, Aspire and Protiv are now connected.


Continue Your Protiv Setup

After connecting Aspire:

  1. Scroll down in Protiv.

  2. Click Start Setup.

  3. Continue the rest of the onboarding steps.
