What can each role do in Protiv?

A reference table showing what Admin, Manager, Crew Lead, and Worker can each see and do.

Purpose

Protiv has 4 user roles. Each one has a different scope of access. This article gives you the complete permission matrix in one place.

Use it as a reference when:

  • Inviting a new user and choosing the right role
  • A user reports they can't see something they expect
  • Auditing who has access to what

How to Change Someone's Role

  1. Go to the People page
  2. Find the user
  3. Click their role in the role column (or open actions → Edit Role)
  4. Select the new role from the dropdown
  5. Save

The change takes effect immediately. They may need to refresh their browser.

Bulk Role Changes

You can change roles for multiple users at once via the bulk edit modal.

Field Manager vs Payroll Manager

Some customers use a distinction between two manager flavors:

  • Field Manager — Reviews and approves ProPays based on job completion, quality
  • Payroll Manager — Reviews bonus statements before payout, manages OT adjustments, exports to payroll

In Protiv these are both Manager role. The distinction is operational — who on your team handles which task. There's no separate technical role for them.

Common Mistakes & How To Fix Them

  • "My manager can't approve ProPays" Verify their role is set to Manager (not Crew Lead). Check that they're assigned to the right routes.

  • "A worker can see everyone's bonuses" That's a bug — workers should only see their own. Contact support immediately.

  • "I can't find the role I want — I need a Read-Only role" Protiv currently has 4 roles. Create a feature request via help@protiv.com.
