What does “Bonuses Past Due” mean in Protiv?

Bonuses are marked past due as soon as the bonus period ends if they are still unpaid.

Purpose

This article explains exactly what Bonuses Past Due means in Protiv, including when a bonus becomes past due and why it appears on the Dashboard.

When To Use This

Use this when you want to:

  • Understand when bonuses are considered late
  • Explain past due bonuses to payroll or leadership
  • Avoid delays in paying earned bonuses
  • Know when action is required

Before You Start

Before using this section, make sure:

  • Bonus statements exist

  • A bonus period has already ended

  • You have permission to review or pay bonus statements (Admins & Managers)

Quick Path

  1. A bonus period ends.
  2. The bonus statement is still open.
  3. The bonus is immediately marked Past Due.
  4. You must review and pay it.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1 — Understand the timing

A bonus becomes Past Due immediately when the bonus period ends.

There is no waiting period and no grace window.

If the bonus period end date has passed and the statement is still open, Protiv flags it as past due right away.

Step 2 — What qualifies as “Past Due”

A bonus statement shows as Past Due when all of the following are true:

  • The bonus period end date is in the past
  • The bonus statement is still open
  • The bonus has not been paid

As soon as these conditions are met, the bonus appears in the Bonuses Past Due section on the Dashboard.

Step 3 — What does not count as past due

The Bonuses Past Due section does not include:

  • Bonuses from active or future bonus periods
  • Bonuses that have already been paid
  • Bonuses that were voided
  • Bonuses that are still within an active period

Step 4 — What you see on the Dashboard

In the Bonuses Past Due section, Protiv shows:

  • The number of unpaid bonus statements
  • The average number of days past due
  • The total bonus amount owed to workers
  • Any deduction balances, if applicable

This gives you a clear picture of overdue bonus payments.

Step 5 — What actions to take

When you click Review, you can:

  • Pay individual bonus statements
  • Pay multiple bonuses at once
  • Void a bonus statement if it was created in error
  • Sort or filter by days past due, employee, or amount

This is where you clear overdue bonuses.

Examples

  • A bonus period ends on Friday → the bonus is past due on Saturday if unpaid.
  • Payroll misses a payout run → the bonus shows as past due immediately.
  • An admin reviews the Dashboard and pays all past due bonuses the same day.

Common Mistakes & How To Fix Them

  • Assuming there’s a grace period
Fix: There is none. Bonuses are past due as soon as the period ends.

  • Thinking “approved” means “paid”
Fix: Approved bonuses still show as past due until they are paid.

  • Letting past due bonuses stack up
Fix: Review the Dashboard after each bonus period ends.
