What is the Bonus Calculator and how does it work?

The Bonus Calculator estimates potential bonuses before work starts based on hours, crew size, and performance.

Purpose

This article explains what the Bonus Calculator is and how it works in Protiv V2. It helps workers and crew leads estimate potential bonuses before a job or group is completed.

When To Use This

  • You want to estimate how much you could earn on a job or group.
  • You want to see how crew size or speed affects bonuses.
  • You’re planning the day before starting work.

Before You Start

  • You must have an active Protiv V2 account.
  • You need access to at least one active ProPay or Group.

Quick Path

  1. Open the Bonus Calculator from the Home screen.

  2. Select an active Group or ProPay.

  3. Enter expected completion time and crew size.

  4. Review the estimated bonus range.

Step-by-Step Instruction

Step 1 — Open the Bonus Calculator

Log in to your Protiv account.

From the Home screen, tap Calculate potential bonuses for other ProPays & Groups!

Step 2 — Choose what you want to calculate

Select one of the following:

  • Active Groups for route-based work.
  • Active ProPays for a single job or milestone.

Use search or scroll to find the job or group, then tap Next.

Step 3 — Review the budget overview

You’ll see a breakdown of the job’s budget:

  • Budgeted Hours: Total planned hours.
  • Used Hours: Hours already logged.
  • Remaining Hours: Budget still available.

Step 4 — Enter your estimates

Set how you expect the work to go:

  • Select expected completion time from the options or add a custom value.
  • Enter crew size, or how many people will work the job.

Results update instantly as you adjust these inputs.

Step 5 — Review the results

The calculator shows an estimated range, including:

  • Total Bonus Range (low to high).
  • Hourly Wage Increase range.
  • Hourly Rate Increase percentage range.
  • Working Days to Complete per crew.
  • Man Days to Complete for total effort.

Step 6 — Share the estimate

If needed, tap Share to send the bonus estimate to your crew or manager.

How It Works

The Bonus Calculator estimates bonuses using these factors:

  • Budgeted vs. Estimated Hours: Compares planned hours to your expected time.
  • Worker Pool Percentage: Portion of the bonus shared with the crew.
  • Crew Size: How many people split the bonus.
  • Variance (10%): Creates a high and low range for realistic results.

If your estimated time exceeds the budget, results show negative values in red. This signals an over-budget scenario.

Examples

  • Reducing crew size while keeping the same time increases bonus per person.
  • Finishing faster than budgeted increases the bonus range.
  • Estimating more hours than budgeted shows a negative bonus.

Common Mistakes & How To Fix Them

  • Seeing negative bonuses: Check if estimated hours exceed the budget.
  • Results seem off: Recheck crew size and completion estimate.
  • Expecting payout changes: Remember this tool does not affect actual pay.
