How do I use the template?

1️⃣ Choose Your Import Type

When importing time, you’ll need to select one of the following formats:

✔️ Duration → Tracks the total hours worked per employee, without specific start/end times.
✔️ Check-in/Checkout → Tracks the exact start and end times for shifts.
✔️ Payroll Period → Groups time data by pay period rather than individual shifts.

2️⃣ Fill Out the Template Based on Your Import Type

⏳ Duration (Total Hours Worked per Day) – Most Common

  • Enter Employee Name
  • Enter Date
  • Enter Total Hours Worked (e.g., 8.5)

✔️ Use this if you don’t track exact start and end times, just total hours.

🕒 Check-in/Checkout (Start & End Times)

  • Enter Employee Name
  • Enter Date of shift
  • Enter Start Time (e.g., 7:30 AM)
  • Enter End Time (e.g., 4:00 PM)

✔️ Use this if you track punch-in and punch-out times.

📅 Payroll Period (Grouped by Pay Period)

  • Enter Employee Name
  • Enter Payroll Period Start Date
  • Enter Payroll Period End Date
  • Enter Total Hours Worked for the Period

✔️ Use this if you enter time in weekly or biweekly pay periods, rather than daily shifts.

3️⃣ Save & Upload Your File

1️⃣ Save the file as .CSV or Excel (XLS).
2️⃣ Go to the Import page in your Protiv dashboard.
3️⃣ Upload the file and follow the prompts to match columns.
4️⃣ Confirm & import—you’re done! 🎉
