💬 How do I Use the Chat Feature in Protiv?

Protiv’s chat system enhances team productivity and fosters collaboration, making it easy for teams to connect through direct messages, group chats, or company-wide announcements.

Enabling the Chat System

Step 1: Turn On Chat

  1. Navigate to Settings from the navigation pane.

  2. Locate the Chat Configuration section.

  3. Toggle the chat feature ON.

Step 2: Refresh to Activate

  • Refresh your browser to ensure the chat system is enabled and visible.

Step 3: Identify Chat Icons

  • Bubble Icon: Located in the upper-right corner for quick access to the chat window.

  • Messaging Widget: Found in the lower-right corner for a compact view of active chats.


Message Types and Features

Protiv’s chat system offers versatile options for smooth communication:

  • 📥 Direct Messages: For one-on-one conversations.

  • 👥 Group Messages: Collaborate with teams or specific groups.

  • 🔔 Company Alerts: Admin-only channels for announcements.

Key Features:

  • ✏️ Edit, Copy, or Delete Messages: Fine-tune your communication.

  • ↩️ Reply to Specific Messages: Keep conversations organized.

  • 😀 React with Emojis: Choose from emoji options to express yourself.

  • 🎤 Send Audio Recordings: Share voice notes for clarity.

  • 📎 Attach Files, Videos, and Images: Enhance your chats with multimedia.

  • 🔔 Tag Users: Mention team members to grab their attention.


Creating Chats

Direct Messages:

  1. Open the Chat Window:

    • Click the Bubble Icon in the upper-right corner.

  2. Initiate a Direct Message:

    • Click the ➕ Plus Icon and select Direct Message.

    • Choose your teammate from the list and start chatting.

Group Chat or Channel:

  1. Open the Chat Window:

    • Click the Bubble Icon in the upper-right corner.

  2. Initiate a New Chat:

    • Click the ➕ Plus Icon and select Group.

  3. Set Up the Channel:

    • Enter a channel name.

    • Upload an image (optional).

    • Choose the channel type:

      • 🌍 Public: Open to everyone.

      • 🔒 Private: Restricted access to invited members.

Company Alerts Channel:

  • What Is It?

    • An admin-only channel for announcements. Only admins can post, while other users (e.g., crew leads) can view but not reply.

  • Key Notes:

    • Members are automatically added once logged in.

    • Users who haven’t logged in cannot access this channel.


ProPay-Specific Chats

How to Create a ProPay Chat:

  1. Navigate to ProPay from the navigation pane.

  2. Select Chat to start a conversation specific to that job.

Key Features:

  • 📌 Job Name: Automatically assigned as the channel name.

  • 👷 Workers Included: Workers associated with the ProPay job are automatically added as members.


Additional Notes:

  • Users must log in to access chat features, making sure secure communication and team accountability.

  • Take a hands-on approach to learning by experimenting with the system—create test users or scenarios to practice in a way that aligns with your team's needs.
