What are common import errors in Protiv? 🤔

Uploading files to Protiv is usually easy, but sometimes you might run into some problems. This article will help you troubleshoot common errors you might encounter when importing data. 🛠️

Importing data into Protiv is usually a smooth process, but sometimes you might run into a few hiccups. Here are some of the most common errors and how to fix them:

  1. Unmatched Fields: 🔀 Protiv couldn't automatically match the columns in your file to the correct fields in the system.
    • Solution: Go back to the "Match the Columns" step and use the drop-down menus to manually select the correct Protiv field for each column in your file. If you're not sure which field to choose, refer to the Protiv template or contact support for help.

  2. Duplicate Entries: 👯 Your file contains duplicate entries for the same time period, job, or worker.
    • Solution: Protiv automatically removes duplicates during the import process, but it's a good idea to double-check your file before uploading. If you find duplicates in your file, remove them and re-upload the file.

  3. File Format Issues: 🚫 Your file is not in the correct format (.xls or .csv) or is missing the header row.
    • Solution: Make sure your file is saved in either .xls or .csv format. If your file is missing the header row, add it back in. The header row should contain column names that describe the data in each column. Consider using the Protiv template to ensure correct formatting.

  4. Duplicate Employees: 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Often, an employee is put in the system more than once because of a spelling error. This is a common problem with manual data entry. For example, if someone's name is John and you spell it "j o h n" in one entry and "j o n h" in another, it will create two employee entries because the data is different. Be very mindful of this before uploading your file, or you'll need to contact support to fix the issue.

  5. Other Errors: 🤷 You encounter an error message that you don't understand.

Pro Tip: Always double-check your data before importing to avoid errors and save time. ⏲️
